Case Study: Elite Baseball Instruction
Discovery
Baseball participation is dwindling in youth leagues across the country, while the baseball techniques that are being taught are ineffective compared to a generation ago. With that in mind, Elite Baseball Instruction was launched to help parents and coaches teach young players through state-of-the-art techniques to optimize player performance.
Plan
This project was ideal for us as it required the full range of our skills and experience. From printed and online business documents to DVD product design to online marketing, Elite Baseball benefited greatly from the value we produce in situations like this. In addition, we consulted on eCommerce and marketing technology as well as production options in many of the mediums to help maximize Elite's investment capital.
Design
Elite Baseball Instruction chose to go with a nostalgic feel to connect emotionally to the glory days of the baseball, so we developed graphic elements to complement the logo Elite previously designed. Several early-to-mid 20th century photos were researched and served as inspiration for the graphic elements such as banners, scoreboards, and patriotic graphics.
Production
Experience in coordinating multiple projects came into play when scheduling. First, we addressed the DVD menu and graphics and worked together with the DVD authoring company to provide all the graphic elements. Second, we prepared the 5-disc DVD box packaging and disc art so printing could start while the final touches of the video were completed. Next, we address the website. Using art that was created for packaging and video graphics, we were able to get a huge jump in completing the website. Website functionality (forms, extranet and video integration logic) made up most of the time spent on the website. Finally, the business and marketing material were created, and online-based printing was used to give the best value to this startup business.
Review
Upon review, we realized that the DVD needed to be promoted better through the Web, so the website became a central location for most of the business. Locally, the DVD was used as a companion to high-end personalized baseball training.
